I began my movement practice with martial arts at age 13 when I started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I completely fell in love with BJJ from that moment on, and went on to practice Muay Thai, American Kickboxing, and to dabble in multiple traditional arts including Kung Fu, Taekwondo, and Aikido.
My yoga practice started in 2017- seemingly by chance when I went to a class as a favor to a friend. Little did I know how captivated I would become by an asana practice, and how much it would help relieve chronic pain from an injury I had sustained from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
I quickly became entranced by both the mental and physical challenges yoga presents, and was inspired to dig deeper by completing a 200hr YTT in 2018. From 2019-2021 I completed trainings in Pilates Mat, Chair, Barrels, Reformer, & Cadillac, as well as a mentorship in Structural Integration Bodywork.
Early on I decided to branch out on my own to provide travel-to-sessions in the DFW Area. I chose the name Southpaw Movement to pay homage to my Southpaw fighting stance in Muay Thai.
Throughout the years I’ve gone on to learn from other bodyworkers and teachers in order to add to my repertoire of techniques to assist clients in their wellness journey. I was also able to gain my E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) from Yoga Alliance.
My teaching practice has evolved to be all about nurturing and creating a safe environment for each person to meet themselves on their own mat. In each session- whether movement or bodywork, I want to facilitate a love of learning new things, respecting your body and your needs, and gaining a deeper awareness of your body and mind together.
From martial arts to Pilates to bodywork, I’ve go you covered!
