Gua Sha Aftercare

  1. Avoid Excessive Heat: For the first 24 hours after your gua sha treatment, avoid hot showers, saunas, or anything that might increase heat in the area where gua sha was applied. This helps prevent excessive redness or irritation.

  2. Protect the Area: Keep the treated area covered and protected from wind, cold, sunlight, and water until the marks fade, which can take a few days. You can also avoid being directly in the wind and cold showers for a few hours.

  3. Keep the Area Hydrated: Apply a soothing, hydrating lotion or oil to the treated area to keep the skin moisturized. This can also help alleviate any minor discomfort or redness.

  4. Gentle Skin Care: Avoid using harsh exfoliants or scrubs on the treated area for a few days. Opt for gentle, non-irritating skin care products.

  5. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins that might have been released during the treatment.

  6. Rest: Give your body some time to recover. Rest and avoid strenuous activities that might exacerbate any soreness.

  7. Monitor Reactions: It’s normal to see some redness or bruising after gua sha, but if you notice excessive bruising, pain, or any signs of infection, consult a healthcare professional.

Cupping Aftercare

  1. Avoid Cold Environments: For at least 24 hours after cupping, avoid cold environments and exposure to cold winds. The area may be sensitive, and keeping warm can help prevent discomfort.

  2. Keep the Skin Hydrated: Similar to gua sha, apply a gentle, moisturizing lotion or oil to the cupped areas to soothe the skin and promote healing.

  3. Rest and Relax: Allow your body to rest and recover. Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that might strain the treated area.

  4. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to aid in detoxification and recovery.

  5. Gentle Skin Care: Avoid scrubbing or applying harsh chemicals to the cupped areas. Use mild, non-irritating products.

  6. Monitor the Area: It’s normal to see circular marks or bruises after cupping, but these should fade within a few days. If you experience unusual pain, persistent redness, or signs of infection, seek medical advice.
